a big crowd

We survived our Grand Opening. A very good turnout, so good, in fact, that it led us to discover that all the windows are painted shut. The music was well received, congrats to Janice, Annie and Dominic.

Things went fairly well. Ran out of diet coke. Were low on singles (money, not people). Frank kept running the blender during the singing.

But every seat was taken, and there were lots of positive comments.

See how it goes next week.

last preview night

yes, I know it's 0134 and I am still awake, but that's the luxury of working on ships. When you're home, you're home, and have no obligations other than those which you choose.

So tonight is the last preview night before our grand opening. Work out the final wrinkles in our operation; at least that's the plan. Of course, large amounts of people on opening night may provide more data than we've had. I'm sure it'll all work out.

Good news. Today, I checked under the sink in the bathroom, and I see that the new installation of the sink is still leak free nearly a month later. I had thought there was a slight drip, but could find no evidence of it. Frank, are your renovations done to such a high standard?

OK, it's time for bed. I'll report tomorrow and hopefully post a few pictures.

rutabaga bisque

had supper here at Franks tonight, the whole crew was here, a mighty fine meal.

Discussed some logistics for Friday nights.

This Friday is our last week of previews before the grand opening March 11th. Hope to see you there.

update: was having a bit of a problem with Franks laptop and wireless connection, and my original post got lost, bummer.

Menu was as follows:
  • Rutbaga bisque in a bread bowl (bread bought at the Rocky Point Bakery)
  • Salad with oil and balsamic vinegar (could've used a splash more vinegar, Judy)
  • steamed zuchinni
  • skirt steak flame grilled, sprinkled with adobe seasoning
  • smashed potatoes
  • carmalized onions
  • cheesecake, fresh fruit, and some other pastry (I declined on all)
  • strong coffee
We had a business meeting, where we discussed the philosophical foundation of what we're trying to do at The Lamp Post. We spoke of leadership and commitment, of goals and logistics. Good participation, and a solid consensus.

So I think the implementation of The Lamp Post is on solid ground, and I look forward to its' growth and impact, both on our community, and those who serve.
